Dr. Ali Issa
I came to America from a small village called Jamama, sounds like Yo mama in English. My village is in southern Somalia, on the horn of Africa. I call it Jamama Town, my birth place, with no electricity, no running water, and no sewer, when the sun goes down everything is black, and watch out you may bump into anyone. It was a real hood not like the American hood where you have electricity, fridges, and any kind of food, schools and transportation.
Out of many people in Somalia, I earned a scholarship in science in order to come to the United States.
I had a desire but not a destination; I was driven but had no direction and a drum without a dance floor. I had a plan and unbreakable self-motivation. I had no money, no wallet, shoes with holes and nothing but pair of pants and a shirt that did not match.
I am a Professor at Riverside Community College. I am the first human who fused comedy and teaching. My teaching style is infectious, my laughter is contagious and my personality is irresistible. My classes remain full through the whole year. I am also an accomplished musician. Music is in my blood and my love for it makes me want to share it with the rest of the world. The beats, Lyrics and the good voice will flow from my soul as long as I live. Peace
